In 2015 deden twee winkels in Beijing en Hangzhou, gesponsord door Ant Financial’s Sesame Credit, een “eerlijkheidsexperiment”. De kassa’s werden onbemand achtergelaten en de klanten werd gevraagd om bij het verlaten van de winkel mobiel te betalen of cash geld te deponeren in een doosje. Veel klanten verlieten de winkels zonder (volledig) te betalen voor hun ‘aankopen’, soms met tassen vol boodschappen.
