Terms and conditions

We like transparency, so to avoid any misunderstandings we would like to bluntly explain our policy regarding lectures.

The ChinaTalk team consists of freelancers that invest a lot of (unpaid) time and effort into studying China and staying up-to-date about the latest developments in the country. We frequently undertake study trips to China to gain first-hand knowledge of new trends. Especially in the rapidly changing area of internet and digital innovation this requires a substantial part of our available time.

Furthermore, the development and rehearsing of a high quality lecture takes more time than many people realise. As such we cannot provide any lectures free of charge. It is our belief that gathering and transfer of knowledge has a value and we hope you understand we also have bills to pay. 😉

We are often approached by organisations that ask us to provide free services because they ‘offer us a platform’. This normally refers to the possibility to get leads and potential from the attendees. However, we do not offer consultancy services and the lecture itself is our product, so we are not interested in such offers.

If you or your organisation has no budget available, you are more than welcome to use our extensive library of (Dutch) articles and YouTube video archive which includes some of our past lectures. We are more than happy to share these with you free of charge.

Pricing:

We do not have a fixed price for our lectures but they mostly vary from 500 to 1.500 euro. The exact pricing depends on:

  • time and location of the lecture
  • length of the lecture and number of attendees
  • availability of audio-visual equipment and technical support at the location of the event
  • type of event (e.g. if the event involves the sale of tickets or sponsoring)
  • sector (we normally provide discounted prices for the public education sector, especially when we can deliver multiple lectures)
  • the level of ‘custumisation’ of the lecture (if you for instance want us to provide a lecture on a new topic or make adjustments to fit within a theme of a seminar the price might be higher than for one of the ‘standard’ lectures mentioned above)

Our prices exclude VAT and travel and accommodation expenses (where applicable).

After the lecture we will provide the attendees (directly or through the organisers) with a PDF handout of the slides of the presentations and links to further relevant background material we can offer (including our own writings and videos). If budget permits we can provide printed editions of our (Dutch) books at cost price as a ‘souvernir’ for the lectures. We do not provide copies of our Powerpoint files.

Rest assured that we will deliver high quality, energetic and inspiring lectures, as our many customers can attest too. We will be more than happy to provide contact details of references should you need them.
